Description:

NCC has is working on a wildfire mitigation project for the Jim Prentice Wildlife Corridor (JPWC). Launched in 2024, this multi-year project aims at reducing the risk of wildfires that could spread to the community of Crowsnest Pass, while improving habitat for ungulates and other big mammals.
Phase 1 and 2 of the project were carried out on the Lusicich property in March 2024 and February 2026. Fuel loading was reduced in the areas identified as highest priority. (See Figure 4) NCC is planning on continuing the project over the next 2 years.
NCC is now seeking a contractor to prepare and execute a vegetation management plan based on the FireSmart Canada guidance for the Bohomolec Ranch property (NW and NE 18-8-4-W5) in 2027 (Phase 3), and finish the project as needed on Bohomolec Ranch and/or Lusicich (SW 16-8-5-W5, NW 9-8-5-W5, NE 9-8-5-W5) properties in 2028 (phase 4). See figures 1,2, and 3.
The fire mitigation plan will identify areas that require FireSmart-type vegetation treatment, separated by priority zones. Phase 3 of the project, to be executed in 2027, will be focused on the Bohomolec Ranch property only. Phase 4 will be executed in 2028. The goal will be to complete any high-priority areas of treatment on one or both the Bohomolec Ranch and Lusicich properties as needed.
The budget for phase 3 (2027) is $49,000
Budget for phase 4 (2028) is $92,000

Submission requirements, figures and property maps are included in the attacted file.
