The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is a leading national land conservation organization committed to protecting our most important natural areas and the species they sustain.  Since 1962, NCC and its supporters have protected more than 15 million hectares of ecologically significant land across Canada.  

Recently, NCC acquired lands referred to as the Kootenay Forest Lands (“KFL”), which encompasses 45,000 hectares situated within the Elk Valley and the Rocky Mountain Trench of Southeastern British Columbia. These private timber lands were previously managed under an intensive forestry and harvesting regime over the preceding nine years.  NCC is now beginning to manage these ecologically diverse lands for stewardship and community values. 

Project Overview: 

NCC is seeking a qualified contractor to support conservation land management through the provision of administrative and field services to support baseline data collection, risk assessment and site inspections on the KFL Lands. The contractor will provide services to NCC for three (3) days per week (or equivalent hours) for a one-year term with the potential to renew for an additional one-year.  

The location of the role has flexibility, with a preference to be based in Elkford, Sparwood or Fernie, BC.
